Abstract - A consistent motivation for the investigation of high temperature superconductor (HTS) Josephson junctions has been the desire for high-speed, low-power, digital circuits. The fabrication of meaningful single-flux-quantum (SFQ) circuits in HTS technology requires a multilayer process for control of circuit inductance. Previous investigators have reported simple SFQ circuits in a single YBCO layer process or two junction SQUIDs in a two layer process, Based on these previous results, we have designed and fabricated simple SFQ circuits using a two layer process with step-edge grain-boundary junctions.
